Kits & Patterns for Fiber Enthusiasts
Located in the hills of coastal Maine on a hundred acre farmstead, Starcroft Fiber Mill is a small family owned and operated spinning mill.
At Starcroft we have a real passion for fibers and traditions. The wool we use comes from a century- old flock of Maine island sheep, shorn by local handspinners. We wash the wool and then hand-feed it into our mill machines, where it is under our watchful eyes from fleece to finished roving, yarn or felt. All of our products are then hand-dyed in small kettle-batches, or left their beautifully "fog-washed" natural white.
With each step, we strive to produce a unique, handcrafted Maine product that helps keep local fiber traditions alive.
We buy all our raw fibers from Nash Island Wool.
Carrying on a 100-year-old tradition, our friends the Wakemans take great pride in their flock. And we do too!
Visitors to Downeast Maine can rent Jenny's house in Addison for weekly vacations by the sea. Picturesque views of the harbor and backyard sheep included!
