Our Nash Island Hats are an easy & enjoyable knitting project for beginners and experienced knitters alike. Each hat highlights a different knitting technique to create its unique embellishments.
The Lobster Bake Hat is knit from the brim up and sewn together at the top. Braided antenna tassels give it a crustacean touch.
The Mussel Shell Hat is knit from the top down with textured ear flaps to help keep you warm in blustery Nor'easter storms.
The Seaweed Hat is knit from the brim up with a ruffle of curly seaweed adorning the brim.
Estimated time of arrival is 2-3 weeks (or less!) since our kits are dyed-to-order.
Kit prices include FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING.
Please call or email for International orders.
During shearing we carefully select fleeces for our Nash Island Yarn. The Coopworth-Romney breeding in the flock provides open & wavy locks with excellent fiber strength, while the Corriadale breeding has given the wool finer crimp and more elasticity. The resulting yarn has the perfect blend of softness, bouce and luster - ideal for a warm, wooly hat.
We're always inspired by the colors found in the rugged nature of Nash Island and Downeast Maine.
Our Rocky Coast collection will be available for a limited time. We will be debuting a new series of colors & kits in Spring 2010, and continue to bring you new products each year.
Each skein is hand dyed in small batches using our secret family recipe.
Our special dyeing technique creates subtle variations in color in each skein. Light & dark highlights of single hues are carefully blended to create beautiful shading in even the simplest knitting.
