During shearing we carefully select fleeces for our Nash Island Yarn. The Coopworth-Romney breeding in the flock provides open & wavy locks with excellent fiber strength, while the Corriadale breeding has given the wool finer crimp and more elasticity. The resulting yarn has the perfect blend of softness, bouce and luster.
We're always inspired by the colors found in the rugged nature of Nash Island and Downeast Maine.
Our Rocky Coast collection will be available for a limited time. We will be debuting a new series of colors in Spring 2010, and continue to bring you new colorways each year.
Each skein is hand dyed in small batches using our secret family recipe.
Our special dyeing technique creates subtle variations in color in each skein. Light & dark highlights of single hues are carefully blended to create beautiful shading in even the simplest knitting.
Our lobster pot kettle-dyeing allows us to dye up to 9 skeins at a time. This way, an entire XL sweater can be knit from one dye bath.
If you're ordering multiple skeins, we'll make sure they're from the same pot.
